The obituary of AVM Freddie Hazlewood who died aged 86 in July 2007
reveals that in May 1944 he joined 244 Sqn, flying Wellingtons from the Island base at Masirah, off the coast of Oman, where the squadrons primary role was to seek out German U-boats in the Indian Ocean. He was then posted to 14 Sqn, RAF Chivenor, again flying Wellingtons. |
