RAF MAURIPUR, No 48 Staging Post, was located 10km north of Karachi and operated as a Royal Air Force base from 1943 until the formation of Pakistan, in 1947. However, the RAF still maintained its presence there until the end of 1956, sharing facilities with the Pakistan Air Force. It was the last active British unit on the Indian sub-continent.
